Title: Translucent Decorated Signed Vase
Post by: dlizotte on October 31, 2017, 07:21:58 PM
Measures 5 1/4" tall and 5 1/4" at it's shoulder, narrowing to 1 5/8" at its base. The pink, brown/orange, and blue/purple designs are slightly raised. The vase is signed, but I cannot decipher it. Best guess is AWS then S. Lazebert then 98. I'm a beginner, so any help from the many experts out there is much appreciated! ~Dean

Make sure the focus is SHARP - closer is not necessarily, better but make them reasonably close.  The picture of the signature is not in focus and no amount of manipulation by normal programs will improve that.

PS   The position of the name indicates the maker was probably from the USA.

To add to Ross's tip ...

1. Use a plain white or grey background. Other backgrounds especially with dark and light patterning will cause most cameras to automatically focus on the background and not on the target item.

2. For etched / engraved signatures use a little talcum powder rubbed gently over the mark then blow off (or gently wipe away) the excess. That will show up the mark and also help the camera to focus on it.
