Title: Whitefriars or not?
Post by: susantq on November 16, 2017, 11:59:36 AM
Help please, does anyone recognise these as being Whitefriars, I have trawled through the catalogues. They look like amber and they are ribbed.  It is 4 inches high. Thank you. Sue.

hello Susan  -  from the lack of replies it might seem the answer is no  -  and regret to say I don't recognize them as anything specific, but that's a long way from being conclusive.
The question I always ask in response to this sort of post is 'what makes you suggest W/Fs in the first place  -  wishful thinking or is there some physical attribute that suggest that origin? :)
When you say ribbed, are you referring to some form of optic moulding - with my eyesight it's not clear from your pix ...........  photos of glass, where the subject is mostly clear, benefit from a uniformly dark background, and I suspect a good clear picture of the underside of the foot might also be helpful.
Gold amber was a W/Fs colour back a little prior to mid C20, but not so sure they made duo tone pieces like yours.          Let's hope one of the W/Fs experts looks in.
