Title: Chinese peacock paperweights question
Post by: Macapuno on December 03, 2017, 08:37:20 PM
Hello, I have a question about peacock paperweights - I have seen some that come in red, yellow, or blue and can stand up or lie down. The paperweight is the peacock fan tail and there is a small head projecting from the front. While in some cases they are described as Murano I understand that they are/were made in China. Some have a 'made in China' label. My question is, does anyone know if they are still being made and, if not, when production stopped? I believe they were still being made in the 1970s, at least.

Three examples are shown on the below page, about half way down.

Thank you very much.

Hi.  I don't think they are still being made: you can find thousands of different designs available new from Chinese suppliers, but no peacocks.  I suspect that they have not been made for 50 years or more.

These were still being produced in the 70's and possibly the early 80's as they were offered in catalogs by several distributors in the U.S. I bought a few during that period and resold them.
