Not to sure about the cake stand bit as it has a small dished feature towards the centre.
Would that pedestal base be stable enough.
The top surface has seen some action, maybe cutlery.
The dish is 313mm wide and 60mm high
The clear glass element of the base has a UV reaction.
Any thoughts on who the manufacturer was?

sorry, no idea as to origin or maker, but might suggest that the u.v. reaction - in clear glass, and especially if not strong - is possibly due to the manganese decolouring agent.
if there was wear on the 'pedestal' base, perhaps it might have fitted into something?? - just a guess.

Tim - is that 'stub' clear or is it bluish like the rest of the piece, can't quite make out from the pix - obviously I hadn't looked properly first time around.
In passing, I notice there are some pieces of W/Fs showing in Jackson which have a stub foot/base similar to this one. Of course, I'm not remotely linking this piece to Whitefriars, but the similarity of foot shape with this piece might just indicate the same approximate manufacturing date of 1930s. However, I notice you're suggesting mid C20, so possibly unrelated date wise.

Thanks for your reply Paul, I looked at the uv response again and you were right, the reaction is not that strong and is probably a decolouring agent.
The pedestal base is clear and is an integral part of the whole design encasing the three different colours seen on top, greyish blue , light blue thin ring and darker blue
towards the outside.
It has a feel of quality about it.
I was going to mention maybe Scandinavian in the topic subject but waited to see if anybody else thought that.
My thoughts on maybe Scandinavian are just the simplicity of the design and the cool (as in cold ) colours used.
One other thought was I have see Hadeland glassworks plates with thin band of different colour around the edge(straw clutching!)
The mid century bit was a guesstimate.
