Title: help with indentification
Post by: ady9876 on December 30, 2017, 08:45:14 PM
Hi guys,

If anyone could help identification of this weight it would be greatly appreciated.

rough lumpy shape with tiny dimpled surface and a unpolished pontil mark.
very dull colours and lots of air bubbles.
its roughly 2.75 inch wide by 2 inch tall

I have taken photos with flash so looks less bright in natural light.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the message board.

I would think made in Murano, around 1880 (give or take twenty years) would be my guess. Reminds me of the following scramble.

Brilliant . Thank you .
I was hoping it to be that era.

I think it is Murano, AVEM, and probably 1920s - 1940s.  I am currently researching Murano paperweights ( not an easy task...) and have found no evidence whatsoever for any made in the 1880 - 1910 period. I would love to be proved wrong with some solid evidence.  That said, I recognise that these pieces are hard to date accurately.
