Title: Flygsfors glass

Hi I am looking for some information of the Flygsfors glass company. I have read most of the more obvious stuff on web on designers and basic history. I came across somthing the other night and was able to reference it through a few sources that they signed some of their pieces S A. Does anyone have any info on this as to why they did this what sort of pieces and if they attract collectors. Many thanks for any info. Regards Patrick

Pina and Vigier also mention this 'Sa', but unfortunately don't elaborate on its meaning  -  they comment  " .....  some (pieces) were only signed on the bottom with a small mark, which resembles 'Sa' and can be difficult to find."               It almost implies it might not have been Sa. ???    Certainly this mark doesn't look to be any of the known Flygsfors designer's initials.

Under this factory, Leslie Jackson gives some bibliographical info., and regarding institutions that hold collections of their work (i.e. those places where more substantial details might be found) the author includes Manchester City Art Galleries ..................  you could give them a try.

Yes that's about all I can find on the net, that some pieces were marked in this way but no further details of the reason or meaning of the initials.Thanks for the tip I drop them a note and see what info they may have. I'll update the post if I find anything. Thanks Patrick

Hello,
If it has the letters SA after it means Sekunda.
In English Second sorting.
Search Flygsfors sa sekunda and you will see.

thanks Jonas  -  have to say I did wonder if it might have meant what we call 'seconds' - in other words there might be a defect of some kind in the glass       .... assume this is what you mean.

That very interesting Jonas, as Paul said "a bit of an eye opener" for us there. Do you know of a good source for information on Flygsfors glass?

Try some of them, there are a lot of information.
