Title: Archimede Seguso - Skiting!
Post by: ardy on January 07, 2018, 02:35:51 AM
Skiting in Australia is a multi-purpose word for boasting, making yourself appear better than you are etc etc.

However, this is a big day for me. I have been looking for one of these vases for years and today I bought one. It is in the Ritorto a Costi family and is the triple vase.

So this means the SvDA 50cm (20") vase must go along with some other pieces to offset this piece.

Still by the time I pull stumps and shuffle off this mortal coil I am hoping for a decent merletto vase and the 'horned' vase in blue.

Belated happy new year to you all.

It's rather gorgeous.  :)
Please, stick to the Aussie meaning of the work skiting when it comes to this piece.
In Scotland "skiting" means to slip, as in; "The pavement was covered in ice, I was skiting all over the place."
You don't want to be doing that when holding this.  ;D

BAD news everyone. It arrived and was the small version of this vase and the ad claimed it was 9" tall when it was actually 6 3/4" tall. I was very disappointed. Will let you know what happens.

Just got the money returned by PayPal. Thank Christ!

I was so shocked when I opened it and found it was the smaller version (didn't even know there was a smaller version).

So I am back to looking for a replacement or alternative. Will be far more circumspect next time.

For those with an interest in the money, it cost me $US 1,900 and I lost the cost (not cheap) to ship it back to the USA.
