Title: Lost patience trying to identify this lovely weight.

Torn all my hair out now  >:( , spent ages trawling the net and my books but still not sure so any help identifying this weight in my collection.. Had it for some while now, and my gut feeling it might be old english? Thanks all!

Hi.  I have seen a couple of pieces that have used very similar (maybe identical) canes to this piece, one of which I used to own.  After discussion with various knowledgeable collectors, we concluded they were most likely Old English pieces, from an as yet unknown maker.

Dear TobyJ,

what I do find particularly unusual with this weight is what appears to be a filigree/laticcino ground....would you be able to take some close ups of this please.

Hi Andrew.  I saw this more as a garland ring of latticino sections, rather than a ground...but close-ups would help!

thanks for the clarification....I have never seen an early English weight with latticino garland or with a similar complex central cane...a low profile too. Would you be able to capture each of these in more detail.

Hi guys - many thanks for the comments so far......Will upload some other pics in the morning. The outer 'garland' is indeed constructed with short pieces of white latticino.

thank you for posting those images. This is a rare weight, English and novel to our eyes. Cool.
