Many random bubbles in the dome. Strong primary colours. Matt base finish.

Might be modern Chinese.

I have seen the central millefiori cane somewhere, but I cannot relocate it. And I have not yet found another example to match the overall design and twist canes.

What a wonderful find.  I think this is an antique from Silesia or Thuringia, dating from about 1900.

That does not look like a 120 year old base to me.

Lack of wear on the base doesn't say anything about the age.  Some paperweights are in pristine condition after 120 years or longer.  Others show considerable wear.

Chris a good example would be those carafes with filgree, my red one was almost pristine your blue one had lots of wear (might even be a similar age to the weight if they were made by Josephine):

Yes I know about age wear, I have not found an old paperweight yet without some form of base wear, although I do not have that many. The ones i have over 100 years old that are in mint condition have a base wear ring, they get picked up and looked at repeatedly unless they have been left in a box in a loft.

I will keep looking though as I'm starting to collect old weights .

Thank you all So much for your replies and i apologise for my lateness in replying i have been away.

the base in real life does show signs of wear, i have experience with antique weights and the look and feel would certainly suggest pre 1900
thank you so much for the ID Im always blown away by the Knowledge in this forum
kind regards Steven
