Title: German tankard Age

Any ideas on the age of this tankard  it depicts on the pewter hinged lid  a scene on enamel but not sure if its painted or transfer printed.
Underneath the lid is painted a the word Nonnenwerth which is near cologne in Germany.
multi facetted body  with a flat, ground, polished well worn base star base.
13cm tall x 9cm diameter.

You can tell if it's a transfer using a loupe. A transfer will show tiny dots from the screen printing

Hi Christine, I checked under a loupe it looks crazed and no uniformity dot wise. ?

I've blown the image up considerably and there doesn't appear to be any suggestion of dots  -  a transfer surface will appear very flat, whereas with paint the strokes should be visible - using the loupe.         My rather uneducated guess might be possibly a tourist piece from first quarter C20.
Presumably no specific pewter marks to indicate maker etc.

Paint strokes aren't necessarily an indication of handpainting because you also see them in transfers, with the dots as well
