Just for interest, 2¾" in diameter, assuming 30s or 40s in date. What surprised me was the reaction to my keyring UV light in one of the canes.

I read something here recently about the canes in Vasart tending to stand proud of the bottom internal bit, John's weight has canes level with the bottom internal bit.
Your Vasart weight is full of unusual strong colours as well, Christine, not just the Uranium bonus. :)

John, I am assuming that the other four examples of that "uranium-containing" cane, also glow in the same way. Is that the case?
Sue, John's weight is by Paul Ysart, which is why the canes are set level with the surface of the ground.
There are a some other examples of Ysart canes which glow with the uranium-yellow-green colour under longwave uv light. Most that I have seen (less than six!) show the glow in only a clear central area. John's example shows us that the muddy-yellowish" colour within the cane was also made with uranium oxide in the mix.
Some canes in Paul Ysat items and some in Vasart (and later) have the uranium glow. I suspect that the glass with the uranium mix was used in the 1930s rather than newly mixed from 1946 onward (but I don't know that for sure). So, when Ysart Brothers Glass (Vasart) was formed, some of the canes travelled the short distance from Moncriieff's to Vasart (Shore Works), and some stayed with Paul at Moncrieff's.

I was not sure it had been confirmed as a PY weight. I couldn't see any PY cane. :-[

There are five of those canes that repeat around and yes they all behave in the same way, the only canes that do react.
Sue, I am beginning to recognise PY weights in the same way I recognise any artist's work, the individual's style. There is more to it that than just that of course, the dome has a noticeable tint and the pontil mark matches the other PY weights of this time period I have found.

That's quite an admission. ;)
I know what you mean though. PYs are a bit "more" than normal. But extending this recognition thing into the paperweight category John, could be a slippery slope. ;D

Absolutely, risky just thinking it let alone posting it! Doubt I would recognise a lamp work weight if no PY sig cane, maybe if some of the canes look familiar.

I might recognise a lampwork one. I have taken the time to study any I have seen closely, but could still possibly confuse it with a Willie Manson.
But if I ever found one for myself, I wouldn't care if it was Paul's or Willie's. ;D
