Title: Malteese cross? centre cane.
Post by: essi on February 25, 2018, 04:07:05 PM
I do not have much knowledge in this area of collecting but would like to find out about this weight.
It is 3 inches in diameter and 2 and a quarter inches in height. The weight of the weight is .45 kgs.
There is a green reaction to the clear casing under uv light.
Any help appreciated.
Tim

It does appear to be a Maltese cross, but the weight itself looks decidedly Scottish to me. :)

Looks like a very common Strathearn to me - they made loads of these spoked weights

I had suspected Strathearn, but didn't have the confidence to say so.
I'm a little chuffed, thanks, Dave. :)

Thanks for all your replies.
I looked on google images at other Strathearn weights and saw one or two with the same design,(with labels).
I take it that this puts the date at 1965 and onwards.
Thanks again,
Tim
