Title: Ruffled rim satin vase- identify help please.
Post by: Scott13 on April 28, 2018, 11:32:33 AM

Hi,
Any idea who might have made this ?

Its surface is satin smooth.
Its pontil mark is rough - no idea what the black bit is.
Looks quite old ( Victorian ? ) and feels quite heavy for its size.

Wt 243gm
Ht 18cm ( 7” )

Any help appreciated - thanks for looking  :)

Almost certainly Bohemian late 19th/early 20th C. The black stuff is iron/carbon resdiude off the pontil rod

Hi Christine, many thanks for your reply, much appreciated.
As for the black stuff, I didn’t like to say, but I thought it looked like some bug that had met an
untimely end.  ;D
