Title: ID help for black stripe on blue swirled vase
Post by: smartart on May 06, 2018, 12:39:51 AM
Hi all, I am hoping some can help me find out more about this vase - it does not have any makers mark on it, the design is beautiful. It is 30 cms tall, 18cm across at widest, the top is a very narrow 1.5cms. I guess this is an art peice as function - no an option unless for one skinny flower. The black stripes are in the galss no on the surface.
LOVE ANY FEED BACK :-) it was expensive, but I loved it.

 :) hi and welcome.
I'm afraid we can't really tell very much from your images.
We do have a lot of techie help and info here:-
https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,34093.0.html
To help with fixing the images for posting to the board which will enlarge a bit better.

Could we ask you to use a plain background, please? The stripes on the tablecloth get mixed up with what I can see in the glass and the colours get altered.
We need a good clear image of the base, showing any marks that might be there (it might not look like much, but the sort of "not much" can often be very helpful.

The rim image is helpful, thanks! and thanks for posting directly to the board, that really is appreciated.
Not everybody logs in every day, I'm sure somebody will be able to help you - it does look as if it might be something good - the lines are elegant and well-balanced. Just have a bit of patience. We don't give up here. :)

Your pontil mark is not actually polished, it's more of a satinated finish. I can't tell if it's been done using acid or by grinding.
But your pics blow up much better now, you've got the hang of that. :)
We just need to get shot of the tablecloth and other distractors now.
Glass is 3-dimensional. Photographing it well, so that a viewer of an image sees what you see in front of you, is not easy. The image flattens and confuses everything.
