I have been left a deep blue/green Mdina vase, around 6 inches tall, very chunky, with yellow ochre-like streaks through it. What makes it unusual are the , what i can only describe as 'lugs' on each side.I have searched Mdina sites but am unable to find pics of another. can anyone tell me more please?.

Hi and welcome. :)
You seem to be on absolutely the right track with your lug description.
These are called "pulled ear" vases. Yours has a wide rim, so is not a very early one, (those have narrow "button" rims) but still dates to the ~ '80s.

Thanks for the swift reply!.It was bought by an elderly friend but i didn't know when. That's a big help. Is it a rare item? as i haven't been able to find pics of similar on any site i have searched.

No, not rare. You should find plenty on the web, now you have the proper name. :)

It'd be worth a browse (or search) in our Malta forum as well. I'll move this topic over there for you now.
