Blue opaline vase (I hope opaline is the right expression, it is lightly translucent showing a golden hue when held against the light).
Appr. 15 cm high, snapped off pontil mark (something I have never seen before with mould blown pieces). Quite wonky ;D
My gut feeling is that it could be quite old. And French. But I may be totally wrong...
Thanks for any help, and sorry for the crappy pics.

Yes opalescent, I had similar gut feelings with this vase (which shared all those features)...

Thank you John!
Mine looks much more opaque, only with very strong backlight it becomes translucent.

It's been hot worked when it came out of the mould, hence the snapped off pontil mark

Thank you Christine!
Any idea about the age of my vase?
I have found similar pieces on the net, described as 1820-30, 1850, 1880,...
So at least 19th century seems likely?

Michael, there is some interesting information here on this doc. You need to scroll down to see the blue piece - to page 8

It seems from this link your vase is called a Jasminvase and dates before 1830 and is French - see the shelf full in various colours :) seite 5 von 10 PK2019/68

A beautiful porcelain version here from a similar period ((c. 1754-1817); Provenance: Musee National de Ceramique, Sevres, France / Giraudon:

Hi m, thank you so much -- and sorry for the delayed reply ;-)
Very interesting, so the vase is even older than I had thought. The Geiselberger collection of these vases is nice!
Funnily, I have seen the same shape vase for sale online some time ago, in amethyst (rather an unusual color it seems).

I've been looking up something else and came across this again. I just wanted to make a correction. I misinterpreted that information on the date in the quoted link above - that was referring specifically to the white vase not the blue one.
The blue one is shown here in this link - the same as Rocco's - it doesn't have a date or firm identification so far, that I can see :
