Title: Camau? Lamau?
Post by: Gwion James on August 08, 2006, 04:52:57 PM
I have just acquired a vase - maybe 60s - simple lozenge form about ten inches high, mustard yellow with three royal blue 'slubs' running from lip to waist - thick clear base. Near base is a ground signature - could be Camau or Caman - or the C could be an L........any ideas? I am no expert at all so excuse my if this is very obvious.....Gwion

I can't figure your signature at all - it does look like Camau or Caman - but neither name is bringing up anything except a place in Vietnam and a Welsh cultural link!

Thanks for looking anyway ... perhaps someone else recognises the name...oddly there is a slight grinder line also all around the vase just above half way, where the blue slubs stop - it's not definate enough for a decoration. In the yellow there is also a hidden, slightly spiral marbling, only visible with strong light through it.
