Title: Amber piano rest.
Post by: Anne E.B. on June 21, 2018, 01:40:56 PM
I've not come across this one before and haven't as yet found a maker having looked through books/web.
Its a very tactile smooth rounded one with a pattern on the base which shows through.
Any ideas would be very welcome.
TIA :)

for some reason that makes me think of those things that had sponges in for sticking stamps in post offices?

Is it definitely a piano rest?  I can see it looks like one but just a thought that there might be an alternative use.

Nice colour  and design.  Very contemporary - amazing isn't it.

Its quite heavy and the glass is thick where it would be" load bearing" and the top concave bit isn't really deep enough to hold a wet sponge, but I can see what you mean.  It was sold to me as a paperweight, but I wasn't going to argue ;)  I did spot a matching green ??? pair recently on eBay I think described as piano rests/insulators, but unattributed.
It is a gorgeous lump, very jelly like and edible looking ;D

I'm guessing this is just a manufacturing line and not really a bird????
Oh how I want it to be a bird :D

That's what I thought too.
Its been bugging me for a while so I put talc powder on. Its a bit like one of those rorschach inkblot things.
Anyway the diagnosis from that is I'm obviously a bird brain ;D
