Hi all,at first glance I thought this maybe Chinese,on closer inspection though I noticed the flower stem was surrounded by some ,to my eye ,neatly placed canes. The base of the stem comes out of a green ground and the under side orange with a small roughly ground Pontil, there is plenty of wear on the area it sits on,the glass colour is darkish.ht about 2 3/4" and base 3 1/4".My gut says a well made Salvador, but I don't know enough about it to be sure and similarly age wise I'm thinking late 30's.

Hope this one is more help?

Hi there,
I agree with your ID. I think it is a good Salvador Ysart. I am not sure when he would have made though.
Nice find.

Thanks for your reply Sophie,it's funny how some of his weights look a bit clumsy at times?with this one he seems to have got it all right including colour combinations and even canes.

I'm starting to think 50's now?,here's a side view for those interested

As you note, looks nearly too good for Salvador! But I think it is one of his. The ground pontil mark in the base suggests it is Vasart period...so I think it is late 1940s- 1950s.

Thanks Alan,I wasn't sure about the date because of the colour of the glass.I guess we should judge people on their best work and with this one I think everything must have come together.

Yes, a good looking Salvador weight.
The two rows of canes around a green central ground are typical (but there are varaitions - such as the inclusion of an orange underside in this weight) of Salvador's "upright flower" weights. Those same design features can be found in some of Salvador's "floating butterfly" weights.
I agree with Alan that it is most likely to be from the Ysart Brothers (Vasart) period of 1946 to 1955.
