Title: Zelezny Brod? Miroslav Klinger? ID confirmed
Post by: Sheilaglass on July 24, 2018, 01:41:55 PM
Hi
Please can anyone help me identify this vase?
I bought it a flea market in Germany, and think it is possibly Zelezny Brod by Miroslav Klinger. It has two apertures, one larger than the other and is a stunning citrine colour, 18.5 x 13 x 6 cm.
I’d be grateful for any information.
Best wishes
Sheila

Dear John
Thanks so much for your replies and the link to the fascinating website with all the information. it's very kind of you. I'm thrilled with the piece, for which I paid the princely sum of 5 Euros.
As well as posting on Glass Message Board, I also mentioned the 'vase' (really an ashtray as shown in your link) in an email  to a gentleman and his wife who specialise in Czech Glass (his wife is Czech). We bought a Klinger vase from him at the recent Birmingham Glass Fair - and his reply has just come. I thought you might find it interesting :

Dear Sheila,
Thank you for your email-it is always interesting to look for things in Germany and you can find some gems. Your citrine coloured vase is quite an early post-war piece from the 1950's and is probably a collaboration between Klinger and Cvrcek. Their pieces were very modernist in form and often executed in citrine and topaz, so yours is a bit more unusual. We acquired something rather similar on our trip (see photo).
All the Best,
