For reference please see attached pictures of Percival Vickers Ram piano insulator.
I got very excited when I come across this. :D
Regards Mike

You have good reason to be excited - it's a very nice item, Mike. Thank you for showing it - I've never seen an example before.
Is it marked? Is it UV-reactive? What size is it, please?
This piano foot is shown as pattern no. 6 on the PV piano foot pattern sheet attached to the opening post of
https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,64228.0/topicseen.html (https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,64228.0/topicseen.html)
and referred to again by Neil Harris in reply #11 of the same thread.

Ah yes, matches the PV feet, not noticed that one before, you may have the only known example...
-
Not the ownly known example as I have a pair. ;D
Has a fantastic uv reaction. Unmarked with clear base.
Roughly 10 cm by 5. I shall be sharing a few more treasures with the forum.
Cheers Mike

I forgot to add its 550 grams, a bit of a heavy weight, like the unidenified reactive monster insulator I currently have listed on eBay at the moment.
Thanks Mike
-
;)
My piano has four feet. There are still not enough insulators for me!
Thank-you so much for showing. :)
-
That’s not a problem Sue, because I have five of these. I”ll do some more piccies later. A very happy bunny Mike.
-
I'm not quite so fond of the clear ones. ;)
Are they really strong enough to support very heavy pianos?
I would actually be a bit worried about them. My piano is a particularly heavy one, with a cast iron frame inside. Then I'd have to change the height of the stool to accomodate the raised animal. (Pianos are on a par with living things ;) They definitely deserve to be raised on beautiful pieces of glass.)

Mike, and All,
The Ramshead piano foot is a good one, especially in that colour.
I have a similar piano foot, flint glass, featuring the devil's head three times. I always thought, though this is unverified by the PV catalogues, that it was made by PV. My reasoning here is that I have compared the structure of the base and it is formed in an identical way to the ramshead one. From memory the base is the same dimension, although the cup measurements are very slightly different.
This should not be confused with John Derbyshire's famous bulls head piano foot, which although of similar form has a different undercarriage.
Any further information would be appreciated.
David

I'll need two of those, but in two shades of Uranium, then I'll have the two different Uranium colours of the Ramshead, and that's my piano sorted.
Two devils and two rams would be just perfect. ;D
-
Wow! thanks David for sharing this, looks great and extremely similar in design, I wonder if they made any other similar styles ?
It would be great if someone had a picture of Derbyshire's "Bulls head"
Sue, I think the mammoths foot are quite small compared to others, so no I wouldn't want to stick a piano on them.
Cheers Mike

:'( Oh well. Bang goes my little "Fantasie-Impromptu". ;)

Hello. I am new here and finding my way on trying to message. I'm trying to see if Mike would sell any of the mammoth foot insulators? I have been trying to find some but with no luck.
Any help in how to fund these? I'm 35 and not a lot of people I know would have contacts on something like this lol. But I saw the pics in this thread and wanted to give it a shot. Thanks to anybody who reads and has suggestions! For some reason I wasn't able to message directly so I'll give this a shot and then also reach out to admin.

Hi, I’m here, but can’t remember how we can message each other offline perhaps a moderator can help? Thanks Mike
-
You both have the envelope icon in your profiles.
If one of you were to click on the other's envelope, you can send a private message and swap email addresses.
It might be an idea to check your spam boxes in case your system doesn't like a new thing coming in.

Thanks for the help. For some reason when I try that though it says I'm not allowed to send messages. Not sure why.
-
Really NOT a good idea - you could get harvested.
Try putting some spaces in and replacing the @ with AT, so Mike can sort it.
I just sent you a pm. See if it arrived.
You can modify your posts for an hour after you finish, using the button at the top right.
If you're too late, I'll get a moderator to sort it for you.
ETA.
Thanks for fixing your address and letting me know my pm arrived. 8)
