Title: Piano insulator looks like a castle keep or tower
Post by: thewingedsphinx on July 27, 2018, 04:51:11 PM
Would be grateful for help identifying this castle looking piano insulator? Not sure what it is but looks like it’s from the 1930s Bagley era? It has grooves on the top which maybe for the caster not bolt screw I’m really not sure but never seen anything like it before. A true pianoforte ho ho ho
Thanks Mike

Well I've been looking everywhere to try and solve this, not a piano caster cup or open salt. It's quite chunky and heavy and has two small recesses opposite each other at the top, as if something would fit or rest in it.Could it have been the base of a lamp holder? It glows like a beacon.
Any pointers would be appreciated.
Thanks Mike

Very interesting pieces, never seen anything like them. Is there plenty of damage/wear around the bases as though they have been used as piano insulators?

Hi Penelope12 yes they both have damage to the base, unlike a piano insulator they don’t have a bowl or shallow recess for a caster to sit in. The recess is just over an inch across but two inches deep. Today I have googled “green glass boudoir lamp base” and found similar along that line. Bagley also do a Grantham lamp which can have different bases, so that could be another direction to follow.
Attach d is a glowing photo.
