Hallo all.
I found this in a charity shop but do not have a clue what it is: any ideas? It is approximately 4.5" tall.
Thank you.

It could be used as an acorn vase, right kind of size. Candlestick?

I'd have thought acorn vase as well.

Thank you John and Anne.
What is an Acorn Vase? Something to encourage the growth of an acorn?

Yes, they are a way of getting an acorn to grow. I seem to recall reading somewhere than in their natural state acorns take quite a long time to get to a state where they will germinate - due to their hard shells I suppose.
It appears that the Swedish store owner Estrid Ericson came up with the idea of creating a vase to grown acorns in: https://www.svenskttenn.se/en/range/vases-pots/vases/vase-acorn/102361/
They can be found in various styles and shapes - a search of the board for acorn will probably show you more examples too.

Can grow a crocus bulb. I don't know what they were sold as "officially", acorn or crocus.
-
Thank you Anne and Julie, your information is very interesting.
I'd never heard of this process...I'm tempted to try it... :=))

one is in an "official" crocus vase and the other just a posy or even an ink bottle, not sure

Beautiful flowers Julie. I shall have to wander the woods looking for an acorn :)
Thank you for the pictures/ideas.
