Title: ...More Mystery Glass Items?
Post by: Penelope12 on September 10, 2018, 09:33:25 AM
I hope you don't mind, but I would like to pick your brains again. These glass objects were amongst a job lot of glass liners and despite extensive research I haven’t got a clue what they are. I thought at first that they might be oil lamp parts, but I still haven’t come across anything remotely similar. They are approximately 2” inches tall X 1 1/2” inches wide...any ideas? ???

Thanks Penny

Could be a night light top shade or lamp cover?

Yes, I do think they must be lamp related, probably the Victorian equivalent of a coloured light bulb.

Red and green makes me wonder if they are Port and Starboard

:) That's my socks, so I know which foot to put each one on.  ;)

But one of those is amethyst, not red.
For an indicator light, you need the colour to be both correct and bright, otherwise it won't be understood by the folk who need to know what it means.

Interestingly a lot of navigation lights are decorative repros and on some the green is nearly blue. Maybe you screen is on the fritz as my colour picker put this smack bang in red with amethyst colours further to the left on the colour wheel. Maybe these are lights maybe not I just commented on the colours. I do wonder if this is more about who is posting than what is posted, discredit noob who doesn't know what red is.  :-X
