Title: Tall, elegant vase...maybe Murano...not sure
Post by: Beege on October 06, 2018, 03:02:40 PM
Hallo all.
This vase is 15" tall and only 3" diameter at the base. Very elegant and rather nice with the sunlight shining through.
I can see no markings or clues to origins; so does anybody recognise the maker/factory for this piece?
Thank you for your help.

I had one of these and have seen a couple on a well known auction site, fairly certain it's modern Chinese going by the pontil.

Penny.

Thank you Penny.
You don't recall the auction site do you? It may be I can glean further clues on the origins.

Hi Jack,

I purchased mine from a car boot sale about three years ago and have seen a couple for sale on Ebay since. The bases of Murano items - with or without concave pontils - tend to be highly polished, whereas the Chinese concave pontils tend to be left unpolished. Still a lovely vase, I have many Chinese items on my shelves which sit proudly next to the authentic ones.

Thank you Penny: I'll keep my eyes open for other examples.
