Title: A cheeky chappie - an unidentified bird

Hi all (again).
This little character is approximately 3.25" height and width...very heavy for his/her size. I don't think its meant to be an owl.
I've looked at (too) many glass birds on the net but have yet to find another...but that may be simply my eyesight giving up after the first few hundred!! There is a hole in the bottom, implying some use I am unaware of.
Does anybody recognise the maker/factory?

He's rather lovely and very well made. Not typical of most bird figurenes, which tend to be pwts, rather than blown glass.
The surface decor looks as if some form of resisting enamels was used - enamels which are incompatible with each other (like oil and water are) and form blobs instead of running together.
I've got a rather nice bit of glass using that technique from Alum Bay, Chris Lucas.

Hi Sue...good to hear from you.
You make a good observation: I was wondering how the artist had managed to produce such a detailed (yet apparently abstract) effect. Your oil/water concept makes perfect sense. I like the effect, both on this bird and your piece: I'll take a look at Chris Lucas' stuff...just in case he made birds!

IoWSG used a black and white resist combination to create their Liquorice Bonbon series, and others have used it too. I don't know who they all are.
It has been worked really well on your bird to create the feathery appearance. It's got a feeling of movement in it as well as a lovely expression.
I'm getting very fond of it.  ;D
I'm sure it's Studio Glass, rather than a big company.

It was the expression that got my attention: he has a kind of cheeky but vulnerable look. Your affection for him (cos I think its a him) is making me talk all gooey!!  :)
It would be good to know if anybody can identify the maker...there may be more out there!!

I'm a sucker for "cute - with a bit of an edge".  ;D
(Any Martin Brother's birds you find are mine, just currently displaced in other folk's mitts.)
He doesn't really have a hole in his bottom. That's the rim of the vessel he is, he's blown glass, just upside-down.
