Title: Murano, but what exactly?
Post by: frnkvdw on October 11, 2018, 08:14:08 PM
Hi,

My latest find in the local thrift shop, a miniature Murano millefiori paperweight.
It has some shelf-wear at the base and my guess is it’s somewhere from the 70 ’s or 80 ’s.
Looking at the canes it could be made by Fratelli Toso, but again i’m not sure.

The paperweight has a diameter of 5 cm x height 4,3 cm (1,96 x 1,69 inch), and a weight of 160 gr.

Could anybody enlighten me about its date and maker? Much appreciated.

Hi frnkvdw,

I think you are correct in your liekly ID. The very "coggy" canes are a good indicateor for a Fratelli Toso attribution, as is the central "group of flowers" cane. And yes, very likely 1960s/70s.
