Title: Green/Blue Jug/Vase - can somebody help identify?
Post by: Beege on January 08, 2019, 04:49:58 PM
Hallo all (and Happy New Year if I haven't already wished you this).
This rather nice jug/vase has lovely colours and has a 'rough' feel to it (slightly 'sandy'' to the touch).
It is 5" (13cms) tall and 3.5" (9cms) in diameter. The pontil is quite rough, even a little sharp.
Does anybody recognise the style, maker, date?
Thank you for any help you can offer.
Jack

 ;)
I'm on a slightly sticky wicket here, but it has the look of Lafiore glass, from Mallorca.
I'd have said it is yellow, with a blue handle.

Hi Sue...thank you for your comments.
I can see what you mean re yellow: this is probably a little subjective, but it feels more green than yellow to me...but hey...my eyes are getting old ! :(
I've had a look at Lafiore glass and I can certainly see why you identified it thus. In fact retroartglass.com describes the process as "The shimmering decor was accomplished by rolling the hot glass over tiny bits of crushed glass and then blowing into final form. The exterior a bit rough to the touch...": this seems to describe the texture of my vase very well.
Thanks again for contributing.
