Title: Zelezny Brod bowl - more info please
Post by: chasdevlin on January 09, 2019, 05:05:55 PM
Hi
I'd be grateful if anyone knows anything about this Zelezny Brod piece. The bottom part is charcoal brown which graduates to a smoked glass. Its most notable feature is small, crushed crystal glass (I assume) which has been applied to the exterior and smoothed over. This produces a stunning sparkling effect. It has a highly polished base and is labelled with the ZBS blue foil label.
It is 3 inches high and 8 and a half inches in length.
I know from reading the boards that detailed info on their output is scarce. There seems to be a default attribution of Vizner Klinger to many of their pieces on-line, but I know they had other designers. Unfortunately I don't have any of the specialist Czech glass books. Any thoughts, however speculative, on designer, age etc. would be really welcome as I think it's a beautiful piece.
Thanks for reading

I meant to say Klinger rather than Vizner in the above post btw. Not sure you can edit posts!
