Title: Lotsa crosses paperweight
Post by: kwqd on January 19, 2019, 04:38:15 PM
I once saw this paperweight in a book and thought it looked pretty odd and later found one, but have no idea what book it was, who made it, etc. It is about 3.25 inches in height and diameter. The bottom has what looks like a perfectly round flat grind that is highly polished with no maker mark. Does anyone know who made this paperweight?

It looks like a variant on the Jerusalem or Crusader's Cross which has the four smaller crosses but normally has flat ends on the arms of the main cross, whereas yours has buttoned ends like the Cross of Lazarus but that doesn't usually have the smaller crosses.  My gut-feeling is that yours may be a souvenir brought back from a pilgrimage or visit to the Holy Land.  Interesting piece!
