Can anybody identify pattern/date of this Sowerby plate with original label thought to be from the 1950's era?

Hi and welcome to the board. Could you make your pictures bigger please, we can't see the detail well enough if they are small. You should aim for around 700 pixels along the longer side and compress for web use to fit our size limits. Thanks. :)

Hi - I'm puzzled by this as I had to reduce the file sizes down to a minimum to be able to post them on the query form i.e less than 125kb per photo maximum 500 Kb if you post 4. I don't know how to control the pixel size, I'm only given the option on my computor of posting files full size or minimal. They looked quite readable on the preview as there isn't a lot of detail to see. You cannot read the writing on the labels if that's what you are referring to even on the original full files photos which are around 1.5 MB because it's quite feint. - hence I added what it says to the note.

You have 125kb per image (yours above is only 32kb) and they need to be larger in dimensions so we can see the detail. They are obvious to you as you know what they are seeing, we don't, hence the request for larger images. Please see here for help as to how to provide them https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,34093.0.html or ask for help with resizing if you get really stuck.

Thanks Anne for the directions, hope this one will be better.

tell me please if this is any better as it doesn't look much different to me despite being 100kb instead of 37kb. I reduced the original photo to 450x450 pixels, the next size up of 500x500 gave a file size of 165kb - too big to post.
-
realise I posted an uncropped copy which negates the advantage of bigger pixel size. heres a cropped version at 120kb

Thank you for persevering but it could still be bigger if your program will let you change the settings slightly? (What are you using for image resizing? I may be able to guide you through it if I know the program.)
I'm especially interested in the design as I had two of these big cake plates which I gave away a couple of years ago, but I had always thought they were Davidson, so I'm intrigued to see your labelled example. I also have (somewhere in a cupboard!) a smaller version with a matching bowl. I can't recall if they were marked or not though, but they didn't have labels.

Hi Edenside#1,
Although the link that Anne provided for rezing images gives a few opitions, I would strongly suggest ( ;D that you try http://www.picresize.com/.
That routine works very well and is simple to follow. Just upload your photo, click "next" until you find the bit for pixel size, then set to 700 or even 800 width, click through the next sections without changing anything. When you get to the end it will show you the image and the resized details. If the file Kb size is still too large (125Kb or greater), just click back to the pixels section and try again. This free routine works, as far as I am aware, regardless of whether you are using a pc, a tablet or a smart phone (etc.).

Hi Anne, Im interested to see you have a similar item in this pattern as a bowl. I also have a bowl with this pattern but its in a Marigold carnival finish, and is 5 inches across by 2 inches deep. The pattern is of a double row of interlocking diamonds - slightly different to the plate pattern, but I wondered if this could be just an adaptation to fit a small round bowl? The base star and the base ring also look similar to that on the plates. This is an unattributed Carnival item, so to be able to link it with the labelled Sowerby piece would be great

I know nothing much about Carnival patterns and this bowl isn't like mine either, so I'm not much help to you really, sorry.
