Title: Sowerby QIW Handled Open Salts
Post by: mhgcgolfclub on January 29, 2019, 06:30:44 PM
Fred

Some pictures of a Sowerby QIW handled open salts. Floral decorated and marked on the base with trademark and date lozenge for 17th March 1879.

Not a shape that I can remember seeing before, maybe quite a rare survivor with the very delicate handles.
Diameter 1.75" and 2.5" including handles.

Weight 36gm.

Thank you for showing these, Roy. Certainly a rarity - I've not seen any examples before.

Sowerby pattern no. 1402, shown on page 8 of pattern book IX (1882). I will try and post the corresponding pattern boook illustration tomorrow.

From the registration bundle nos. 333424-333429 of 17 March 1879 - Parcel 11, but I am unable to link the precise RD no. with the pattern book no. without the design registrations to compare it with.

Perhaps Paul S. might be able to help if he happens upon this post, please?

Fred.
