Title: Old and bruised!
Post by: frnkvdw on February 10, 2019, 03:23:49 PM
Hi,

A heavily bruised miniature paperweight, with a scrambled millefiori carpet ground, a star cut dome
and facetted sides.
Probably had an earlier life as a doorknob, or somebody played football with it.
The greyish glass color and shape of the millefiori, suggest it could be old Murano glass, but i’m not sure.
Please, can someone give me more information?

Measurement 2,08 x 1,37 inch (5,3 x 3,5 cm), weight 146 gr.

Nice paperweight.  It is difficult to see but the side view gives a hint that it may be from Thuringia or Silesia.

Thanks Allen,

That's a surprise, didn't expect it. Although it's heavily damaged, I like it too.
Got it as a free gift when i bought another paperweight on a local market.

cheers, Frank

PS.
Stupid  :), forgot to ask Allen ...What is exactly the hint you see in the side view?

Sorry, I should have been clearer.  The side view was the only view that allowed me a clear view of what was inside.  Based on the millefiori I saw, I assigned the attribution.  Others may offer a different opinion.

You posted your attribution as I was viewing them Allan, I'd agree with you Silesia/ Thuringia based on the canes.
