Good Morning
I got piece from carboot in Witshire UK.
Ladies and Gents please share your knowledge, as I can't guess what it is.
The ever jug is 260mm high to the spout and 280mm high to the top of the handle.
The handle is scalloped on the back.
The outer diameter of the base is 100mm
I presume the jug is Antique but is is only my guess.
If you require any more information or photos let me know.
Kind Regards
Beata

Welcome! :)
I strongly suspect it is a claret jug. But I haven't a clue who may have made it or when. It might not be easy to track down either.
Is there any evidence inside the neck that there might have been a stopper at one time?

hello
Thank you for so quick response. Please see attached the neck photo. There is some cloudiness near the beak so ...maybe there was a stopper once. But from the other hand, the shape of the beak doesn't indicate for me that there was a stopper there.
But I solely rely on the experience and knowledge of the people here.
Kind regards
Beata

:) It does look as if there might have been one.
It's perfectly ok, and quite common in a claret jug to have the spout like that, with a stopper, which would have been made to fit each individual jug alone.

Is there any wear on the base....it's hard to tell in photographs. First thought is fairly modern Czech from the cutting, but I may be wrong!

Or perhaps Jugoslavian cutting.
