Title: Stourbridge Glass Co. Ltd. [‘Tudor’] 10018 suite - Cleves
Post by: chopin-liszt on March 16, 2019, 03:22:57 PM
 :)
I don't know about registered numbers, but I do have a set of Tudor wineglasses that date back to around the '30s/'40s. They belonged to my Grandpa and I've always loved them.
I have 7 and a spare that is leaking lumps of evo-stick around the bottom. ;D

From Tudor Crystal's 'wine services - 10018 suite - Cleves'.

Photos from my pre-war? undated Tudor Crystal catalogue.

I didn't know the official name, thanks ever so much Fred!
I did track an image of one down on the replacements site. There are not a lot of them around
I still call them my Thistles. They're the nicest thistles I've seen on cut glass, apart from Svarc's.
The Tudors are superior to Edinburgh.
In twenty years of scouring for glass, I have found one tiny chamapgne coup in the Tudor Cleves pattern.
I have been looking for them.
Does anybody need better images of this pattern for any records?

Oooh. and reading the article tells me the sand comes from St Alines!
Isle of Wight Studio Glass used that sand, and so did Phoenix heat-resistant glassware.
They were very nearly serious competition to Pyrex, because of the superior quality of the raw ingredients. I don't really know how Pyrex overcame that.
Sorry if this is all a bit off topic. :-[
