Anyone have an idea how old this is? The etching looks hand done. The boat looks like a gondola with sails - maybe a sampan? Who would have done this?

Hi, there’s info on these here:

Thank you for the links. Those were interesting & makes me much more intrigued with mine. Usually copies are copying something valuable I would suspect. This one is part of a clear out of a summer "cottage" with documented history of wealthy, upper crust families. The other items are unquestionably from the Victorian era forward. Some of the Japanese items have been identified from the early 1800's.

It doesn't mean that everything they owned was antique or valuable. Very old glass isn't actually so crude and bubbly, people just expect it to be. Old glass can often be less than symmetric whereas this looks too good. That this style seems to be popping up everywhere would also indicate relatively recent rather than antique

Thanks for your input. Like I said above, copies usually indicate something of value or desire that are being copied. What are these recent copies copying? (& it's doubtful anyone has touched the contents of what I'm being brought for at least 50-60 years)

I've certainly seen a lot of things like this around, I don't suspect too much age on any of them.
I think it's just trying to look "old".
There is no major collectable thing I'm aware of that is being emulated.

As Chopin-liszt said and if you read the prevoius threads, we don't think these are copies of anything

A punch set available locally, bowl and 8 glasses.
