Title: Whitefriars Wanabe?
Post by: Smitty on April 17, 2019, 04:42:19 PM
Hi everyone, Does anyone recognise the maker of this vase. Its 8ins high has a random encased bubble in what looks like an aubergine coloured glass. The tapering vase has a slight lean from the perpendicular giving a “tusk”  like shape. Polished out pontil on the base. At a distance it looked like `Whitefriars  although  I have been unable to find anything like it. More likely made in China ?  Any ideas ? Thanks in expectation.

These crop up in a few colours and I think a couple of heights too, I have a vague recollection they were sold in Ikea some years ago but take that with a pinch of salt. Either way they are relatively modern, a few years ago I watched with horror as a series of them sold (far too well) at a local auction described as 'Whitefriars experimental Tusk vase'.

Thanks John for helping me with this one.  This one slipped through in a mixed lot  of some quite good stuff.  At least I can chuck this one away as I thought. Thanks again.
