I bought a clown at a thrift store this week for $5. It is about 7.5" tall. On the back is a faded sticker with a gondola and the words "HAND MADE VENETIAN GLASS". The style is different than my other clowns. Is this from Murano? When might it may have been made?
Thank You
Larry

Hi Larry, your label looks like the one seen on JI Co pieces (example of the label here: https://www.yobunny.org.uk/glassgallery/displayimage.php?pos=-1914) JI were Jordan's Importing, and there is a bit more about them in Rainy's topic here (with more pics - scroll down to reply #4) https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,50907.0.html, along with another dissimilar but labelled clown here https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,37935.0.html. A search for clowns using the board search function will bring up more examples to compare yours with or you could take a look at some other JI Co clowns in Shannon's research album on our GlassGallery here: http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/thumbnails.php?album=532
Hope this helps. :)

I see some clowns similar to mine in that gallery and elsewhere, so I expect that it is a safe assumption that mine is from J.I. Co. I am guessing that it is from the 1950s. I think that I got a nice deal at $5.
Thank You
Larry
