A recent purchase of a mixed lot at an auction turned up this glass bowl. I would appreciate help with the identification of the maker. I did wonder if it were Clutha - don't ask me why.

I think I can see why......my first thought was Scottish. It reminds me of pieces like this

I have only had a couple of pieces that I thought might be Scottish, and I never managed to identify them. From memory, the base is important and your photo shows it really clearly.
I will be interested to learn more about it.

Possibly Stevens and Williams Caerleon - has the right look anyway.

Could Nazeing be a contender?

Clutha would be a more irregular shape and possibly more finely blown.
Schneider made bowls this shape. :)

A photo with a dark background may be useful - should show up the iridescence assuming there is any.

Thank you all for your input. It is greatly appreciated. I will take a photograph of the bowl against a dark background and post it.

Is there any iridesence on the surface? :)
-
Not really. Here it is taken against a dark background.

It does appear to be a bit of a mystery, Ronnie. I can see why you went for it - it does appear to fit in with Ysart styles, they made this shape of bowl too, as I'm sure you know.
(For others, Salvador Ysart trained/worked at Schneider before coming to Scotland with his sons.)
It doesn't look like any of the Nazeing-style of stuff, (which often has an almost crizzle effect in it) that is often described as "Scottish Glass" which is a different mystery all on its own. This does not belong with that.
This is something good. I just don't know what. ;D

Everything about it is right for Caerleon...

I have looked at Caerleon Glass on the internet and it all seems to be iridescent and almost looking like surface decoration. This bowl is not iridescent and has no semblance of surface decoration. Rather it has this fine internal bubble effect. However, not having seen Caerleon in the flesh it is difficult to determine accurately.
