There is a long tradition of hand-painting (cold) flowers (and landscapes) onto black vases in Belgium. Although the style is very out of fashion, and the cold painting is very easily damaged, these two vases caught our attention. They have been painted onto an usual opaque lavender ground!
Like it or loathe it, we're interested if anybody else has found this colour used as a background and perhaps possible to suggest which factory?!
It's a long shot, but GMB often comes up trumps!! :)

Please could we see the base?
Many thanks
-
IMHO it shows that the base was finished on wet paper and then there's a (+/- 1cm) band of wheel-ground, unpolished around the base-edge to help ensure flatness and anti-slip(?)

Unsure, but the slightly incongruous red rim might suggest that it was intended to be gold painted (etc.) ? but no sign that it ever got such a metallic edge .

Have you considered Bristol Glass?
-
No, I hadn't, so thanks for the tip.
Having Googled, it seems a possibility, but;
1) I can't see a similar shape (yet)
2) The style of painting on Bristol, although varied, doesn't seem a 100% match.
3) I can see a few similar colours of glass in their work.
4) The form does seem (more) similar to Belgian factories (although it's not unique enough for identification)
It's certainly worth doing a trawl for Bristol and seeing if I can find a better match.
Will post if I find it.

Biristol glass (unlees it was made within the last few years) is a myth perpetuated by the Internet. Any decorative glass making ceased in the 18th C; only bottle and window making remained
