Title: Sage green sommerso vase in the style of Tamara Aladin
Post by: Jay on June 19, 2019, 06:54:42 AM
This isn't really my subject area but it certainly has a Scandi look (e.g. Tamara Aladin?) but I'm still not finding a good match, and a little wary that it could be new/chinese/ lookalike etc.

Can anybody help me??

As strange as it sounds the maker is Waterford (assuming they did not commission them from elsewhere), I have seen two shapes and both were absurdly heavy.

John

Yours is called a Rumba vase by the look of it. Example here, has an etched Waterford mark:

Marquis by Waterford are contracted out to mainland Europe.
I can't remember where, right now. :-[

Marquis does their coloured stuff and some of the bread and butter cut stuff.

Thanks John and Sue. I would never have guessed!
I have only passing acquaintance with their crystal range.

I guess we can mark this one resolved!!
(interested to know if there is a mainland manufacturer's name, though)

It would appear to be several countries on the mainland. I found this article which has some interesting information in it.
Such as how to tell Marquis from Waterford by the curl on the seahorse's tail. :)

I used to go to a shop in R.o. Ireland that sold Waterford when I was visitnig family and learned about the outsourcing of Marquis there several years ago when buying a (real) Waterford Mushroom lamp as a gift for somebody very special. :)
