Could the writing read "trinity"?  :)

It would help if you could rub some talcum powder, or cinnamon powder over the mark on the base and photograph it again. The powder sticks in the grooves and makes it a lot easier to see.

Indeed, it could be "Trinity", but I am not 100% sure.
I upload a better picture of the signature, maybe you can look again,

I'm seeing Jhi at the beginning.....definitely needs some talc or cocoa.
