Title: "Bottle Green" champagne flute with Welsh label that doesn't look right
Post by: catshome on June 21, 2019, 04:19:55 PM
I was so excited to find my first piece of Welsh glass.  I was pretty sure I could remember coming across some similar coloured glass, with a maker's name starting with "Llan".

However, the label on this piece says "Welsh Royal Crystal" and specifically refers to it being hand cut, which it clearly isn't.  A trawl through the internet has not revealed any green glass by Welsh Royal Crystal - it appears they are only cut crystal.

Searches for "green champagne flute" also failed to come up with anything similar.  Other searches for "Welsh glass" brought up mainly glass with dragons on!  There does not appear to be much about Welsh Glass online.  The Welsh Royal Crystal History part of their website was also not very enlightening.

So it's time to put it into the hands of the GMB.....is this a rogue label?

It's certainly curious. Their blog says their crystal carries a "dragon assay mark" sandblasted onto the base of each piece which yours clearly doesn't have. Why not drop them an email and ask about it Cat?  http://welshroyalcryst.blogspot.com/ and http://www.welshroyalcrystal.co.uk
