Title: Amber crackle glass vase(?) with applied turquoise roundels
Post by: catshome on July 05, 2019, 11:33:41 AM
Not sure if this is a vase or a very heavy drinking glass.  13cm high x 6.5cm diameter.  The crackle becomes more apparent approx. 3cm from rim.  Tiny random bubbles in the glass.  Broken pontil.

Before I unpacked its box, I had been looking at another thread about Jerzy Sluczan-Orkusz and remembered this piece.  But now that I have it in my hand, I am less sure I've solved it.  The amber with applied turquoise also reminded me of my Prachen bowl, but I haven't found anything quite as "rough" looking by Josef Hospodka.

There is a slight "film" or "fog" on the outside of the glass that appears to be only over the crackle area.  This won't wash off, but disappears when rubbed, and then comes back.  I wondered if the piece was dipped into something to make the crackle effect.

Just a little bump on this one.  Still wondering about Jerzy Sluczan-orkusz, based on things like

I will try to remember what I'm looking at while browsing that site, Cat.
But, "I may be gone some time...         "

Wroclaw is one of my most favourite museums in the world. I do have a copy of the fabulous book it produced on its glass and ceramics of the 2Oth century - a very generous gift from another member here.
I didn't know they have a website - my own photos from my visits are terrible, but flash is obviously not allowed and the glass was in thick glass cabinets. I had bumps on my forehead.
