Title: Identification assistance
Post by: Lovecollecting on July 11, 2019, 07:13:44 AM
Hello, I have purchased this lovely bowl but cannot find any information to help with identifying the signature etched on the underside of its footed base. Can anyone assist please? The signature seems to Torglass. The bowl has a splayed rim and has a design which resembles a spiders web or the feather design used in Nailsea. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome.

We will need some photographs of the piece to be able to help you.  Have a look at the advice on the board for posting photographs.  Let us know if you get stuck.

I've found using a digital camera I have to set the image size to the lowest, VGA 640x480, and then crop the photo as small as possible. Even then I sometimes can't get the image under the 125kb required and it might take several goes to get it right which is really annoying. I've also found I need to use the old Windows Photo Gallery to tell me if it's under 125kb.  I'm not sure but on a phone camera you might not have the capability to do this.

Have you tried using an image manipulation programme or something like 'photo shop' ?

Irfan view is free and easy to use to resize.....if I can do it.....it must be fairly easy......and easy to check the size just by saving the image it tells you how many kb it is after saving.  You quickly get used to which size makes it under 125kb.

Images added to your original post for you. :)

I think your bowl mark says Top Glass, and may be by these folks:  http://topglass.biz/ - you could drop them an email via their website and ask if it's one of theirs.  See another two examples on the board here https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,59853.0.html (https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,59853.0.html)
