Title: trying to identify signature and learn more about a vase I bought in Italy - ID = Monika Riedl
Post by: jonspencer on July 16, 2019, 06:00:17 PM
I bought the attached vase in Italy last weekend

Was sort of on the look out for Murano glass but I liked this piece though I did not know what it was?

The signature reads Horika Reidl xxx or something like that, it also has ick signed in the middle

It is 24 cm high and 15 cm at widest point

I am total newbie and looked up similar style glass but could not figure out signature

It looks like Riedel......a large glass making family, but I can't think of any name beginning with H.  I also haven't seen anything in this type of glass before and,  hopefully, someone will be along to tell us what that technique is called.  Interesting piece.....look forward to finding out more about it.

after getting a stronger magnifying glass i was able to identify who made this vase

it was Monika Reidl www.monika-riedl.com

a fairly pricey glass maker in Austria (the vase I have sells for EUR 377 ? on her website)

however this glass vase does not seem to have held much of it's original value   :o
