Title: help identifying footed bowl
Post by: guest14107 on July 24, 2019, 01:40:23 PM
Any one know who may have made this piece and when? The wear on the foot is just on the edge as this is only where it touches the surface. TIA

There is quite a lot about "bubble glass" on the board, might be interesting for you to do a search using the search feature at the top.  It may be Biot, but a read of the previous threads will help you to find out the features of Biot glass and other bubble glass.

Reminds me of a couple of vases that turned out to be made by Bjorkshult.

Thanks for reply’s guys, Biot was my first port, but just doesn’t look like anything they produce and they always etch their mark. Will take a look at Bjorkshult,. It’s such un unusual pontil mark.....

I think you may be onto something with bjorkshult, Wagner was a designer for them and I have seen a couple of rather similar pieces, I will keep looking...😁

They're not very Biot-y bubbles.
Biot-y ones tend to stretch in the same direction.
These are all rather gorgeously random and seem busier than Biot. It looks very well made. :)
Welcome to the board, Athena. :)

Hi Athena, could we have photos against a plain white background please? The dark background is making it hard to see the bowl properly. Also dimensions would be useful, thanks.

Much better, thank you. I did wonder if it might be Nazeing but having seen the new pic's I'm tending towards it not being as the veining doesn't appear on their other pieces I've seen.  Photographing glass is often tricky, thanks for trying. :)

This one has the perception of veining in the decor and has a label.
Not sure the pontil mark is the same though but might be a good comparison.

This one has some curious veining in it as well - also labelled.  How does the decor compare?

Well found M, rocco's bowl in the topic with Ivo's footed item looks very much like the same patterning as Athena's.
