Title: question about a bullicante design bowl with Murano label
Post by: jonspencer on July 27, 2019, 07:04:26 PM
I am curious about the gold bubbles on the bottom which seem to be in the shape of a "D"

has anyone seen this type of marking before? is it common?

piece is 16 x 12 x 5 cm

I can't quite tell from the picture......but is it possible it's caused by the base being polished a bit thinner over the centre and losing all of some of the bubbles and the surface of others?

It is the polishing compound stuck in the bubbles that have been exposed. You could pick it out with a pin or suchlike if you wanted to.

What a great tip for cleaning delicate intricate pieces.....maybe we should add that to the thread on cleaning glass!
