Empoli Verde maybe.

Thanks. I guess I was put off this idea by the button knop on the top. I'd expect a round, dimpled or pointed (e.g. 'genie') shape for Empoli? Also the barbell shape doesn't ring a real bell in the recognition department
I had a quick search and didn't find a convincingly similar design yet, but I'll check further and hopefully....
The base finishing could count as a match point, but I'd need a few more elements before I've convinced myself.

Jay, any chance of a shot of the base please?

Pretty sure TC is right.....Empoli.  It's really hard to find labelled examples and even the labels can be generic made in Italy, rather than any factory name.  There was an identical one on eBay listed as vintage mid century modern Italian art glass, but the listing is gone from eBay so I don't know if it was labelled.  The picture still comes up on picclick but the link has gone from there too.

Well I checked the museum in Empoli and the net, but my reservations are still there (although I don't have a better candidate). I think the handle/knop is incongruous. Similar designs for lids mostly have the pagoda shape. with a ball or egg-shaped finial.
In this case I don't feel that a 'bottle-green' is much value for identification, but I will concede that it is quite big, and bigger than most places (other than Empoli). Perhaps leave it as 'attributed to' if there's no further info forthcoming.

They seem to be listed in several places, some with inner white casings. Found one with like a smoke colour and white inner. They are described as 'Empoli Apothecary Jars, 1960s Italy', but no label.
