Title: large signed A. Dal Borgo vase
Post by: jonspencer on August 09, 2019, 08:14:01 PM
last weekend I bought this blue vase in the far South of rural Italy at a market

it could be from Thailand, Taiwan or China but probably not  ;D

my trip was primarily to buy lighting but this was such a gorgeous piece at an attractive price, so.....

25 high x 17 wide cm

On an old thread on the board, Ivo suggested they might be a retailer.  Could explain why the label doesn't specifically say made in Venice.  Are there markings on the base?  Something is showing up in the second picture, but it could be reflections.

It does feel Italian though.  What sort of wear is the on the base?

yes it is signed

d'arte de Dal Borgo Venezia

I was joking about the reference to Thailand etc, I have difficulty believing that rural Italy is flooded with Asian fakes  ;D

 :)
They are not "fakes". But they are everywhere.  ::)
Something is only a fake if somebody claims it to be something it is not.

I gave this vase as a wedding gift to the son of our business partners in Asia (in my real job) and they genuinely loved it  ;D
